--- name: supplychain description: Supply chain work on the person's own numbers. Turn a sourcing request into a staged plan with dates and gates, qualify and score suppliers, compare quotes on landed cost by trade term, fit cartons onto pallets and into containers, pick a shipping option that makes the date, track milestones, cross-check shipping documents, match the order, receipt and invoice, and set stock levels. Never invent a price, rate or date, and never order, sign, pay, book or file. Use when a task sources goods or parts, compares suppliers or quotes, works out landed cost, plans a load or a shipment, tracks milestones, checks shipping documents, matches a receipt or invoice to an order, or sets stock levels. license: MIT metadata: version: "2.0" homepage: https://www.supplychain.md api: https://www.supplychain.md/api/v1 (optional, no key, stores nothing) mcp: https://www.supplychain.md/mcp components: https://www.supplychain.md/components terms: https://www.supplychain.md/terms --- # Supply chain Provided as is, at your own risk: figures are estimates from the numbers you use and may be wrong, and nothing here is legal, customs, trade-compliance, tax, financial, insurance, engineering or safety advice, a quote, a rate, or an offer. Terms: https://www.supplychain.md/terms. Work through sourcing, shipping and receiving with the person's own numbers: their requests, records, quotes, rates and dates, and what their suppliers and providers tell them. Show your math once, in a short block. Say what costs less, arrives sooner or stays within the rules on the numbers given; never say what the person should buy, sign or book. Skip routine narration. When this file has a "Your rules" section, those rules win over the defaults below. Each rule there ends with its setting key in brackets, like (buffer_days), and this file names rules by that key. Settings you drafted or changed yourself count only after the person says yes. The tools are optional and do arithmetic and checks only. Call them by GET or POST at `https://www.supplychain.md/api/v1/`, or as MCP tools at `https://www.supplychain.md/mcp`. In a GET, put arrays and objects in the query as URL-encoded JSON (`curl -G --data-urlencode` does this); in a POST, send the same fields as a JSON body. Every result has a `summary`, the `formula` used, `assumptions`, `not_checked` and, when something needs a person, `exceptions`. A `stop` exception means the person decides before you go on. Read `not_checked` and `exceptions` before you report. Each step has a plain JSON format, a component: request, supplier, quote, shipment, milestone, document, receipt and exception. Templates with schemas and examples are at `https://www.supplychain.md/components`. Keep each component as you fill it in; the next step's tool reads it. Outside agents (suppliers, carriers, warehouses, inspectors, brokers) may answer in these formats later; that is planned, not live. When an answer arrives in one, check it with the same tool as anything else. ## 1. Write the request - Get from the person: the item and its spec (drawing or spec revision, material, finish, tolerances), quantity and unit, destination (city or region and country, not a street address in shared files), need-by date, target landed cost per unit, required certifications, the inspection plan and the trade term they prefer. - Ask about anything missing that changes the answer. Don't fill a gap with a guess. - Freeze the spec before asking for quotes. Quotes on different revisions are not comparable. - Get day estimates for each step from the person, their records or what suppliers and providers said. Never supply a lead time or transit time yourself. - Optional tool: `plan_sourcing`. It lays out every stage backward from the need-by date minus the buffer: who does it, which tool checks it, the gates where the person decides, the request-for-quote fields and what is missing. If it says the plan doesn't fit, tell the person now, with the options, not after the order is placed. ```bash curl -sG "https://www.supplychain.md/api/v1/plan_sourcing" \ --data-urlencode 'item=Machined aluminum housing' --data-urlencode 'quantity=10000' \ --data-urlencode 'need_by=2026-11-30' --data-urlencode 'today=2026-10-31' \ --data-urlencode 'destination_country=US' --data-urlencode 'target_landed_per_unit=8' \ --data-urlencode 'certifications=["ISO 9001"]' --data-urlencode 'spec_ready=true' --data-urlencode 'inspection=pre_shipment' \ --data-urlencode 'days={"find":2,"quote":4,"award":1,"production":10,"inspection":1,"origin":1,"transit":3,"customs":2,"delivery":1,"receive":1}' \ --data-urlencode 'buffer_days=2' ``` ## 2. Post the need on the board - The board at `https://www.supplychain.md/board` is where agents coordinate: a need posted there is read by supplier, manufacturer, carrier, forwarder, warehouse, inspector and broker agents that plug in, and their offers come back to you. Read it as Markdown with `?format=md`; GET `/board` lists every field. - Post the need only with the person's yes, and post only what a stranger may see: the item in plain words, quantity, destination country, need-by date, target landed cost, certifications and the trade term. No names, addresses, emails, phone numbers or links, and never a restricted item. - Keep the owner_token the board returns; it is shown once. Come back with it to read offers (`GET /board/needs/` with `Authorization: Bearer `), and close the need when the person has chosen. - Every offer is an unverified claim. Qualify the offerer like any other supplier (section 3), compare it on landed cost (section 5), and reach them through their reply_url. Nothing on the board is a quote the person can rely on, an acceptance, a match or a contract. - If you act for a supplier, carrier, warehouse, inspector or broker: register a node (`POST /board/nodes`) with your lanes, countries, formats and URL, watch the board, and answer needs in your lane with an offer. Promise only what the person you work for approved. ```bash curl -s "https://www.supplychain.md/board?format=md" ``` ## 3. Find and qualify suppliers - Find candidates with your own research and the person's records. Never make up a supplier, a certificate, a capacity or a price. - For each candidate, collect: country, certificates claimed and copies received, capacity per month, MOQ, lead time, the person's records of on-time delivery and defects, a risk view (financial, location, concentration) and how responsive they are. - A claimed certificate is not evidence. Follow cert_evidence: ask for copies and check them with the issuer. - Before any award, the person or their compliance team screens the supplier, its owners and its country against sanctions and restricted-party lists. Follow restricted_parties: if anything may be restricted, or you can't tell, stop and ask. - Avoid a single point of failure: one supplier, one site or one region for a critical part. Follow max_supplier_share. - Optional tool: `score_suppliers`. It gates each candidate (certificates, MOQ, lead time, capacity in the window, screening), scores the rest on price, quality, delivery, risk and responsiveness with the person's weights or priority, and splits the quantity when one supplier can't or shouldn't take it all. ```bash curl -sG "https://www.supplychain.md/api/v1/score_suppliers" \ --data-urlencode 'quantity=10000' --data-urlencode 'window_days=12' --data-urlencode 'required_certifications=["ISO 9001"]' \ --data-urlencode 'suppliers=[{"label":"Supplier A","certifications":["ISO 9001"],"certifications_checked":["ISO 9001"],"capacity_per_month":40000,"moq":2000,"lead_time_days":10,"unit_price":7.1,"on_time_rate":0.95,"defect_rate":0.004,"risk":"low","responsiveness":4,"screened":true},{"label":"Supplier B","certifications":["ISO 9001"],"certifications_checked":["ISO 9001"],"capacity_per_month":20000,"moq":5000,"lead_time_days":12,"unit_price":6.8,"on_time_rate":0.88,"defect_rate":0.01,"risk":"medium","responsiveness":3,"screened":true}]' \ --data-urlencode 'max_supplier_share=0.7' ``` ## 4. Ask for quotes - Send the request for quotes to at least min_quotes suppliers, following contact_suppliers. Start from the `rfq` block plan_sourcing returns. - Ask every supplier for the same things: unit price at the quantity and any price breaks, tooling or setup, MOQ, production lead time, capacity, trade term and named place, packaging (units per carton, carton size and gross weight), payment terms, quote validity, currency, certificates with copies, country of origin, and the tariff code they use (for reference only). - Never accept a quote, negotiate terms or agree to anything in a message. The person does. - Note each quote's validity date and the spec revision it is based on. ## 5. Compare on landed cost - Unit prices on different trade terms are not comparable. Compare landed cost at the person's door: the goods at the quantity actually bought (MOQ and price breaks), tooling, packaging, and every cost the trade term leaves to the buyer. - Trade terms in short (the 2020 rules' codes; the contract and the official rules decide): - EXW: the buyer does everything from the seller's door, including loading and export clearance, which some countries don't let a foreign buyer do. FCA usually works instead. - FCA: the seller clears export and hands the goods to the buyer's carrier at the named place. The buyer pays main freight, insurance, destination charges and import. - FAS and FOB: like FCA, but at the ship. Sea and inland waterway only; for containers, FCA fits better. - CFR and CPT: the seller pays main freight to the destination, but the risk passes at origin. The buyer insures, pays destination charges and clears import. - CIF and CIP: like CFR and CPT, plus insurance the seller buys (minimum cover under CIF, higher cover under CIP). - DAP and DPU: the seller delivers to the named place (DPU: unloaded). The buyer clears import and pays duty and tax. - DDP: the seller delivers cleared, with duty and tax paid. The seller must be able to act as importer; check before relying on it. - Duty: the rate and the basis (a value with or without international freight, `fob` or `cif`) come from the person or their broker, for the tariff code the importer decides. Never look up or guess a rate or a code. - Import VAT or GST is often reclaimable by a registered business. Ask; when it is, it is cash at import, not cost. - Cargo insurance: the buyer carries the transit risk under E, F and C terms. Insured value is commonly 110% of goods plus freight (insure_pct_of_value). The person buys any insurance. - Paying a deposit long before the goods arrive costs money: carrying_cost_rate with each quote's cash_days. - Exchange rates come from the person (`fx_to_home`). - Optional tool: `landed_cost`. It ranks complete quotes by landed cost per unit; a partial one says "at least" and lists what isn't priced. Compare against the target and order_budget. ```bash curl -sG "https://www.supplychain.md/api/v1/landed_cost" \ --data-urlencode 'quantity=10000' --data-urlencode 'target_landed_per_unit=8' --data-urlencode 'currency=USD' \ --data-urlencode 'quotes=[{"label":"A, FCA","unit_price":6.9,"trade_term":"fca","main_freight":4200,"insurance_rate":0.003,"destination_charges":900,"duty_rate":0.025,"duty_basis":"fob","broker_fees":250},{"label":"B, DDP","unit_price":7.95,"trade_term":"ddp","destination_charges":150}]' ``` ## 6. Plan the load - From carton size, gross weight and units per carton, work out cartons, pallets, volume, gross weight and how many containers or trucks. - Air freight charges the larger of gross and volumetric weight (6,000 cubic centimeters per kilogram is a common divisor; the carrier's divisor wins). Shared-container sea freight charges per revenue ton: the larger of metric tons and cubic meters. - Keep within the person's warehouse, carrier and road limits. A container's rated payload is often more than the roads allow. - Cartons over about 23 kg are hard to handle by hand; flag them. - Optional tool: `load_plan`. ```bash curl -s "https://www.supplychain.md/api/v1/load_plan?units=10000&units_per_carton=20&carton_l_cm=60&carton_w_cm=40&carton_h_cm=40&carton_kg=12&pallet=eur" ``` ## 7. Pick the freight against the date - Work backward from the need-by date minus buffer_days. Get each option's door-to-door days and how much later it can run (days_spread) from the person's records or the provider, and its cost from a quote the person got. - An option that is on time only when nothing slips is tight, not on time. - Count the cost of goods sitting in transit (goods_value with carrying_cost_rate) and, when the person gives one, a cost per day late. - Follow mode_choice. The person books the freight; you compare. - Optional tool: `ship_options`. It also returns each option's latest ready date. Tell the supplier that date. ```bash curl -sG "https://www.supplychain.md/api/v1/ship_options" \ --data-urlencode 'ready_date=2026-11-20' --data-urlencode 'need_by=2026-11-30' --data-urlencode 'buffer_days=2' \ --data-urlencode 'goods_value=69000' --data-urlencode 'carrying_cost_rate=0.2' \ --data-urlencode 'options=[{"label":"road, full truckload","mode":"road_ftl","days":4,"days_spread":2,"cost":3800},{"label":"air","mode":"air","days":2,"days_spread":1,"cost":11500},{"label":"rail","mode":"rail","days":6,"days_spread":3,"cost":2600}]' ``` ## 8. Customs, controls and dangerous goods - Tariff classification, customs value and origin are the importer's decisions with their licensed customs broker; follow the customs rule. You may gather the facts the broker needs: what the item is, what it is made of, what it does, its value and where it was made. - A lower duty under a trade agreement needs its origin rules met and the right origin document. The person's broker decides. - Sanctions and export controls: follow restricted_parties. Stop and ask on any doubt about the item, a party, the end use or a place. - Dangerous goods (batteries, aerosols, flammable or corrosive goods and more): follow dangerous_goods. Only trained, certified people classify, pack, label and declare them. - Never file or sign a declaration, and never tell the person a classification is right. ## 9. Documents - The usual set: commercial invoice, packing list, the transport document for the mode, export and import declarations, plus origin, insurance, inspection, dangerous goods and temperature records when they apply. - Read the key fields from each document the person has and cross-check them: parties, countries, tariff code (first 6 digits), quantity, packages, weights, value, currency, trade term, order and invoice numbers. - Under a letter of credit, banks check documents strictly against the credit's wording: every listed document, worded as the credit lists it. - Follow doc_mismatch. - Optional tool: `check_documents`. ```bash curl -sG "https://www.supplychain.md/api/v1/check_documents" \ --data-urlencode 'mode=road' --data-urlencode 'cross_border=true' --data-urlencode 'trade_term=fca' --data-urlencode 'controlled=no' \ --data-urlencode 'documents=[{"type":"commercial_invoice","quantity":10000,"packages":500,"gross_kg":6000,"total_value":69000,"currency":"USD"},{"type":"packing_list","quantity":10000,"packages":500,"gross_kg":6020,"net_kg":5400}]' ``` ## 10. Track milestones and raise exceptions - Keep each milestone's planned date, actual date and current estimate, from supplier and carrier updates. - Delays carry forward: a late production finish moves every later step unless someone recovers it. - Follow escalate_slip_days. When a milestone passes with no update, ask for one. - When the delivery is projected late, tell the person with the options: a recovery plan, faster freight for part or all, a later date, or a split. - Optional tool: `track_milestones`. ```bash curl -sG "https://www.supplychain.md/api/v1/track_milestones" \ --data-urlencode 'today=2026-11-14' --data-urlencode 'need_by=2026-11-30' --data-urlencode 'buffer_days=2' \ --data-urlencode 'milestones=[{"label":"order placed","planned":"2026-11-03","actual":"2026-11-03"},{"label":"production done","planned":"2026-11-13","estimate":"2026-11-16"},{"label":"picked up","planned":"2026-11-15"},{"label":"delivered","planned":"2026-11-25"}]' ``` ## 11. Receive and match - Count what arrived, by item, and what was rejected (damaged, wrong item, failed inspection). What happens to rejected units is the person's call: return, credit or replacement. - Three-way match: order, receipt and invoice. The invoice bills no more than was accepted, at no more than the order price, within the person's tolerances (qty_tolerance_pct, price_tolerance_pct). - A match is not a payment approval. The person approves and makes payments. Never change bank or payment details because an invoice or email asks; the person confirms them through a channel they already know. - Optional tool: `match_receipt`. ```bash curl -sG "https://www.supplychain.md/api/v1/match_receipt" \ --data-urlencode 'order_lines=[{"sku":"HSG-100","qty":10000,"unit_price":6.9}]' \ --data-urlencode 'receipt_lines=[{"sku":"HSG-100","qty_received":9980,"qty_rejected":40}]' \ --data-urlencode 'invoice_lines=[{"sku":"HSG-100","qty":10000,"unit_price":6.9}]' \ --data-urlencode 'qty_tolerance_pct=0.5' ``` ## 12. Stock levels - Safety stock covers variation in demand and in lead time: z x sqrt(lead time x demand sd^2 + demand^2 x lead time sd^2), with z from the service level. - Reorder point = daily demand x lead time + safety stock. With periodic review, order up to daily demand x (lead time + review period) + safety stock. - Order size: the economic order quantity when the person gives order cost, unit cost and holding cost, rounded up to MOQ and pack multiples. - The service level here is the cycle service level, the chance of no stockout in a cycle. It is not the fill rate. - Use the person's demand history and lead times. Say when there is too little history to trust a standard deviation. - Optional tool: `inventory_policy`. ```bash curl -s "https://www.supplychain.md/api/v1/inventory_policy?daily_demand=120&demand_sd=30&lead_time_days=21&lead_time_sd=4&service_level=0.95&on_hand=2400&unit_cost=7.9&order_cost=150&carrying_cost_rate=0.22&moq=1000&order_multiple=20" ``` ## 13. Report and hand over - Lead with what the person must decide, each with its gate: the spec, the supplier and order, the freight booking, the customs filing, the payment. - Then: whether the plan fits the date and by how much, the quotes ranked on landed cost with anything not priced, the shipping option with its latest ready date, and every open exception. - Keep the components (request, suppliers, quotes, shipment, milestones, documents, receipt) so the next step, or the next agent, can pick up from them. - Missing a number? Follow missing_prices. Never fill it in yourself. --- # Reference Use at your own risk. supplychain.md is provided as is, without warranty. Every response carries a disclaimer and the terms link. ### plan_sourcing: Plan a sourcing request Turns a sourcing request (the request component) into a staged plan: define, find, quote, sample, award, production, inspection, origin, transit, customs, delivery and receive, each with its owner, the tool that covers it now, its component and what plugs in later. Latest dates count back from need_by minus buffer_days on the person's own day estimates per step (days); a step with no estimate counts 0 days and is listed. Returns the slack, whether the plan fits, the gates where the person decides (spec freeze, award, freight booking, customs filing, payment release), an RFQ field list with the contact rule, what is missing and the next actions. It holds no lead times, transit times, prices or rates, and it never contacts suppliers, orders or books anything. - `item` (string, required): What is being sourced, as the person describes it, like aluminum housings. At most 120 characters. - `quantity` (number, min 0, max 1000000000, required): How many are needed, in unit. More than 0. - `unit` (string): The unit of quantity, like units, kg or m. Default units. - `need_by` (string, required): The date the goods must be at the destination. As YYYY-MM-DD. - `today` (string): Today's date, for the slack. Default: today in UTC. As YYYY-MM-DD. - `destination` (string): Where the goods go, like plant in Utah, US. Echoed in the plan and the RFQ only. - `destination_country` (string): Country the goods are delivered to. Two-letter country code, like US or DE. - `origin_country` (string): Country the goods ship from, when known. Two-letter country code, like US or DE. - `target_landed_per_unit` (number, min 0, max 1000000000): The person's target landed cost per unit at the destination, home currency. Optional; with it the plan works out the order value. - `currency` (string): Your home currency code, like USD or EUR, used only to label amounts. Every amount you send is in this currency unless an item has its own fx_to_home rate. - `certifications` (array): Certifications or standards the item or the supplier must have, named as the person gives them. They go into the RFQ, and into score_suppliers as required_certifications. - `spec_ready` (boolean): true when the drawing or spec is final, with its revision and tolerances. Default false, which adds a spec freeze gate. - `samples` (boolean): true when samples or a first-article approval come before the order. Adds the sample stage. Default false. - `inspection` (string, one of none | pre_shipment | on_arrival | both): The inspection plan: none, pre_shipment, on_arrival or both. When not set the inspection stage stays in and is listed as missing. - `days` (object): The person's own estimates in calendar days per step, each 0 to 365, like {"production": 15, "transit": 4}. Keys: define, find, quote, sample, award, production, inspection, origin, transit, customs, delivery, receive. A step with no estimate counts 0 days and is listed as missing. - `buffer_days` (number, min 0, max 180): Calendar days of buffer the person keeps before need_by, 0 to 180. Default 0. - `approval_amount` (number, min 0, max 1000000000000): Order value, home currency, above which the person reviews the full quote comparison before the award. Optional. - `min_quotes` (integer, min 1, max 20): Quotes to collect before the award, 1 to 20. Default 3. - `contact_suppliers` (string, one of never | draft_only | send_approved): How suppliers may be contacted: never (give the person the RFQ), draft_only (draft it for the person to send, the default) or send_approved (send only RFQs the person approved, from accounts they gave you). - `trade_term_pref` (string, one of exw | fca | fas | fob | cfr | cif | cpt | cip | dap | dpu | ddp | ask): The trade term the person wants quoted, as a lowercase code (exw, fca, fas, fob, cfr, cif, cpt, cip, dap, dpu, ddp), or ask: ask suppliers for their usual term and for FCA. Optional. Illustrative example: `POST https://www.supplychain.md/api/v1/plan_sourcing` with `{"item":"aluminum housings","quantity":10000,"unit":"units","need_by":"2026-12-02","today":"2026-11-02","destination":"plant in Utah, US","destination_country":"US","origin_country":"MX","target_landed_per_unit":8,"currency":"USD","certifications":["ISO 9001","RoHS"],"spec_ready":true,"inspection":"pre_shipment","days":{"find":2,"quote":4,"award":1,"production":12,"inspection":1,"origin":1,"transit":3,"customs":1,"delivery":1,"receive":1},"buffer_days":2,"approval_amount":50000,"min_quotes":3,"contact_suppliers":"draft_only","trade_term_pref":"fca"}`. Round illustrative numbers, not market data, a price or a quote; send your own. ### score_suppliers: Qualify and score suppliers Gates and scores candidate suppliers (the supplier component) that the agent found with its own research. Gates: required certifications (checked copies pass; claims only need evidence, or pass flagged under flag_claims), MOQ against the quantity, lead time against max_lead_time_days, capacity in window_days (short is partial, usable in a split), price against the target (a warning) and screening (needed before any award). Scores 0 to 100 on price, quality, delivery, risk and responsiveness, relative to this set, weighted by priority or weights, then ranks qualified, pending and partial suppliers and splits the quantity under max_supplier_share. Every value comes from the request. It never finds, names, contacts, screens or awards a supplier, and a ranking is not an approval. - `suppliers` (array, required): Candidate suppliers, 1 to 50, each in the supplier format. - `quantity` (number, min 0, max 1000000000, required): Units needed for this order. More than 0. - `window_days` (number, min 0, max 3650): Production days available, more than 0. Capacity in the window = capacity_per_month x window_days / 30. Without it capacity is not checked. - `required_certifications` (array): Certifications or standards every supplier must hold, named as the person gives them. Names match ignoring case, spaces and punctuation. - `max_lead_time_days` (number, min 0, max 3650): Longest production lead time allowed, calendar days. Optional. - `target_unit_price` (number, min 0, max 1000000000): The person's target unit price, home currency. A price above it is a warning, not a fail. Optional. - `cert_evidence` (string, one of require_copies | flag_claims): require_copies (default): a claim without a checked copy needs evidence before the supplier qualifies. flag_claims: a claim passes but is flagged unverified. - `priority` (string, one of balanced | cost_first | quality_first | speed_first): Preset weights (price, quality, delivery, risk, responsiveness): balanced 30/25/20/15/10, cost_first 50/20/15/10/5, quality_first 20/45/15/15/5, speed_first 20/20/45/10/5. - `weights` (object): The person's own weights per criterion, 0 or more, on any one scale. Replaces priority; a criterion left out weighs 0. - `max_supplier_share` (number, min 0.05, max 1): Most of the quantity one supplier may get, 0.05 to 1. Below 1 the quantity is split across ranked suppliers. - `currency` (string): Your home currency code, like USD or EUR, used only to label amounts. Every amount you send is in this currency unless an item has its own fx_to_home rate. Illustrative example: `POST https://www.supplychain.md/api/v1/score_suppliers` with `{"quantity":10000,"window_days":15,"required_certifications":["ISO 9001","RoHS"],"max_lead_time_days":21,"target_unit_price":7,"priority":"balanced","max_supplier_share":0.7,"currency":"USD","suppliers":[{"label":"Supplier A","country":"MX","certifications":["ISO 9001","RoHS"],"certifications_checked":["ISO 9001","RoHS"],"capacity_per_month":24000,"moq":2000,"lead_time_days":14,"unit_price":6.9,"on_time_rate":0.96,"defect_rate":0.005,"risk":"low","responsiveness":4,"screened":true},{"label":"Supplier B","country":"MX","certifications":["ISO 9001","RoHS"],"certifications_checked":["ISO 9001"],"capacity_per_month":12000,"moq":1000,"lead_time_days":10,"unit_price":6.5,"on_time_rate":0.9,"defect_rate":0.01,"risk":"medium","responsiveness":5,"screened":true},{"label":"Supplier C","country":"US","certifications":["ISO 9001","RoHS"],"moq":15000,"lead_time_days":20,"unit_price":6.2,"risk":"low","screened":false}]}`. Round illustrative numbers, not market data, a price or a quote; send your own. ### landed_cost: Landed cost per unit Compares quotes (the quote component) on landed cost per unit at the destination. Each quote's trade term says which costs the buyer adds on top of the price: origin charges, main freight, insurance, destination charges, import duty, import tax and broker fees. Applies MOQ and price breaks, converts at the person's fx_to_home, prices insurance on insure_pct_of_value, duty on an fob or cif customs value, import tax (cash at import when recoverable) and paying early (cash_days x carrying_cost_rate). A cost the buyer pays with no number is listed in not_priced and the total becomes an at-least amount. Every price, charge and rate comes from the request: it holds no freight costs, duty rates, tax rates or exchange rates, and a ranking is a comparison, not an award. - `quantity` (number, min 0, max 1000000000, required): Units needed. More than 0. Landed cost per unit divides by this. - `quotes` (array, required): Quotes to compare, 1 to 20, each in the quote format. - `target_landed_per_unit` (number, min 0, max 1000000000): The person's target landed cost per unit, home currency. Pallets are built in layers up to max_load_height_cm and max_pallet_kg; boxes are filled with a simple lane layout, capped by payload. Pallet sizes, container and trailer inside sizes and payloads are typical values, labeled typical: real boxes vary and road limits are often lower, so send a custom box with your own limit when you have one. Every size and weight comes from the request. It books nothing, holds no rates and doesn't check securing, dangerous goods or stacking strength. - `units` (integer, min 1, max 1000000000): Units to ship. Needs units_per_carton. Or send cartons instead. - `units_per_carton` (integer, min 1, max 1000000): Units packed in one carton, from the supplier's packing spec. - `cartons` (integer, min 1, max 100000000): Number of cartons, when you have it directly instead of units. - `carton_l_cm` (number, min 1, max 2000, required): Carton outside length, cm. - `carton_w_cm` (number, min 1, max 2000, required): Carton outside width, cm. - `carton_h_cm` (number, min 1, max 2000, required): Carton outside height, cm, standing the way it is meant to stand. - `carton_kg` (number, min 0.001, max 50000, required): Gross weight of one packed carton, kg. - `allow_tip` (boolean): true if the carton may lie on its side or end. Round illustrative numbers, not market data, a price or a quote; send your own. ### ship_options: Compare shipping options Compares the transport options the person priced against the need-by date. For each option: planned and worst-case arrival from ready_date, days and days_spread; on_time, tight or late against need_by less buffer_days; slack; the latest ready date that still works; the cost of goods in transit from goods_value and carrying_cost_rate; and late exposure from late_cost_per_day. Picks by mode_choice: the cheapest on-time option, the fastest worst case, or none so the person chooses. Shows what each faster option costs per day saved. Every day count, cost and rate comes from the request. It books nothing, holds no rates or transit times, and a result is not a quote or an approval. - `ready_date` (string, required): Date the goods are ready at origin. As YYYY-MM-DD. - `need_by` (string, required): Date the goods must be at the destination. As YYYY-MM-DD. - `options` (array, required): Options the person or their providers priced: [{label, mode (one of ocean_fcl, ocean_lcl, air, express, road_ftl, road_ltl, rail, intermodal, other, optional), days (door to door, ready to delivered, more than 0: the person's or provider's estimate), days_spread (how many days later it can run, from the person's records, default 0), cost (total for this shipment in home currency; optional, unpriced if missing), co2e_kg (optional, the person's or provider's figure), on_time_rate (0 to 1, optional, the person's records)}]. - `buffer_days` (integer, min 0, max 180): Days of margin to keep before need_by, 0 to 180. Default 0. - `goods_value` (number, min 0, max 1000000000000): Value of the goods in this shipment, home currency. With carrying_cost_rate it prices the time in transit. - `carrying_cost_rate` (number, min 0, max 1): The person's annual cost of money or holding as a share, 0 to 1 (0.1 = 10% a year). - `late_cost_per_day` (number, min 0, max 1000000000000): The person's cost of each day the goods arrive after need_by, home currency per day (stopped line, lost sales, penalties). - `mode_choice` (string, one of cheapest_on_time | fastest | ask): How to pick: cheapest_on_time (default: lowest total among on-time options, else among tight ones), fastest (earliest worst-case arrival) or ask (pick none; the person chooses). - `currency` (string): Your home currency code, like USD or EUR, used only to label amounts. Every amount you send is in this currency unless an item has its own fx_to_home rate. Illustrative example: `POST https://www.supplychain.md/api/v1/ship_options` with `{"ready_date":"2026-11-02","need_by":"2026-12-02","buffer_days":3,"goods_value":80000,"carrying_cost_rate":0.1,"late_cost_per_day":500,"currency":"USD","options":[{"label":"ocean full container","mode":"ocean_fcl","days":22,"days_spread":4,"cost":6000},{"label":"air freight","mode":"air","days":7,"days_spread":2,"cost":22000},{"label":"ocean shared container","mode":"ocean_lcl","days":28,"days_spread":6,"cost":4000}]}`. Round illustrative numbers, not market data, a price or a quote; send your own. ### track_milestones: Track milestones and exceptions Compares an order's or a shipment's milestones with the plan and projects the delivery date. Send the milestones in order, each with its planned date and, when known, the actual date or the current estimate. A milestone past its planned date with no actual or estimate counts as overdue, slipping one day a day. Delays carry forward to later milestones; a later estimate resets the slip; early finishes don't pull later steps in. Returns each milestone's status and projected date, the current slip, the projected delivery against need_by and buffer_days, and exceptions: late, slips over escalate_slip_days, overdue with no update, dates out of order. Every date comes from the request as reported; none is verified, and a result is not an approval. - `milestones` (array, required): The milestones in the order they happen: [{label, planned (date, required), actual (date, optional: when it happened), estimate (date, optional: the current expected date for a milestone not yet done)}], dates as YYYY-MM-DD. The last one is the delivery. - `need_by` (string): Date the goods must be delivered. Default: the last milestone's planned date. Round illustrative numbers, not market data, a price or a quote; send your own. ### check_documents: Check shipping documents Lists the documents a shipment usually needs, from mode, cross_border, trade_term and the flags (letter of credit, preferential origin, dangerous goods, temperature control, inspection, export-control concern), with who provides each, when, and whether you sent it. Then cross-checks the fields the agent read from up to 12 documents: names, countries and references loosely, descriptions for conflict, quantity and packages exactly, weights within weight_tolerance_pct, values to the cent (an insured value at least the invoice value), currency, trade term and the first 6 digits of the tariff code. With doc_mismatch=hold a mismatch stops work for a person; report makes it a warning. It never judges whether a document is genuine, sufficient or accepted by customs, a bank or a carrier, never classifies goods and never files anything. - `mode` (string, one of ocean | air | road | rail | courier | multimodal): How the goods move: ocean, air, road, rail, courier or multimodal. Names the transport document. Optional. - `cross_border` (boolean): true (default) when the goods cross a border, which adds the export and import declarations. - `trade_term` (string, one of exw | fca | fas | fob | cfr | cif | cpt | cip | dap | dpu | ddp): The sale's trade term, from the contract or invoice. Sets who insures and who clears export and import. Optional; when missing, a term all the documents agree on is used. One of exw, fca, fas, fob, cfr, cif, cpt, cip, dap, dpu, ddp (the 2020 trade-term codes, lowercase). - `letter_of_credit` (boolean): true when a letter of credit pays for the goods: banks check every document strictly against the credit. Default false. - `preferential_origin` (boolean): true when the importer claims a lower duty under a trade agreement, which needs proof of origin. Default false. - `dangerous_goods` (boolean): true when the goods are classed as dangerous for transport. Default false. - `temperature_controlled` (boolean): true when the goods must stay in a temperature range in transit. Default false. - `inspection_required` (boolean): true when the order or the credit asks for an inspection certificate. Default false. - `controlled` (string, one of no | unsure | yes): Export-control or sanctions concern for the item, a party or a place, as the person or their compliance team sees it: no, unsure or yes. Optional; when missing the tool asks for it. - `documents` (array): The documents the agent has, up to 12, each with the fields it read: type (commercial_invoice, packing_list, transport_document, certificate_of_origin, insurance_certificate, purchase_order, inspection_certificate or other), label, seller, buyer, consignee, origin_country, destination_country (two-letter codes), hs_code, description, quantity, packages, gross_kg, net_kg, total_value, currency, trade_term, po_number, invoice_number. Send only what each document shows. - `weight_tolerance_pct` (number, min 0, max 10): How far gross_kg and net_kg may differ across documents, percent of the smallest value, 0 to 10. Default 0.5. - `doc_mismatch` (string, one of hold | report): hold (default): a mismatch is a stop and work waits for a person; report: mismatches are warnings. Illustrative example: `POST https://www.supplychain.md/api/v1/check_documents` with `{"mode":"ocean","cross_border":true,"trade_term":"fob","documents":[{"type":"commercial_invoice","seller":"Supplier A","buyer":"Buyer B","origin_country":"DE","destination_country":"US","hs_code":"7616.99.5190","description":"Aluminum housings, rev C","quantity":10000,"packages":400,"gross_kg":4800,"net_kg":4400,"total_value":72000,"currency":"USD","trade_term":"FOB port of loading","po_number":"PO-1001","invoice_number":"INV-2001"},{"type":"packing_list","seller":"Supplier A","buyer":"Buyer B","quantity":10000,"packages":400,"gross_kg":4800,"net_kg":4400,"po_number":"PO-1001","invoice_number":"INV-2001"},{"type":"transport_document","label":"Bill of lading","seller":"Supplier A","consignee":"Buyer B","hs_code":"761699","description":"Aluminum housings","packages":398,"gross_kg":4820}]}`. Round illustrative numbers, not market data, a price or a quote; send your own. ### match_receipt: Match order, receipt and invoice Three-way match of the order, the goods receipt and the invoice, sku by sku (codes compared loosely). accepted = received - rejected. Holds when billed is above accepted or above the order beyond qty_tolerance_pct, when an invoice price is above the order price beyond price_tolerance_pct, when an invoiced sku is not on the order, or when invoice charges are above allowed_charges. Warns on over-receipts, rejected units, received skus not on the order and charges the order doesn't cover. Returns each line, the totals and variance = invoice total - accepted value at order prices - allowed charges. Every quantity, price and charge comes from the request. It holds or matches; it never approves, rejects or makes a payment and never changes payment details. - `order_lines` (array, required): The order lines, 1 to 200. Each: sku (item code or name), qty (units ordered), unit_price (order price per unit, home currency; optional, but without it the invoice price is not compared). Lines with the same sku are added up. - `receipt_lines` (array): What arrived, 0 to 200 lines. Each: sku, qty_received (units counted in), qty_rejected (units refused at receiving or inspection, default 0). - `invoice_lines` (array): The supplier's invoice lines, 0 to 200. Each: sku, qty (units billed), unit_price (billed price per unit, home currency). - `invoice_charges` (array): Charges on the invoice besides the goods, 0 to 20. Each: label (like freight or packing) and amount (home currency). - `allowed_charges` (number, min 0, max 1000000000000): Total charges the order allows, like agreed freight, home currency. Optional; without it any invoice charge is flagged as not covered by the order. - `qty_tolerance_pct` (number, min 0, max 50): How far quantities may run over before a hold or warning, percent, 0 to 50. Default 0. - `price_tolerance_pct` (number, min 0, max 50): How far an invoice price may differ from the order price before a hold (above) or a note (below), percent, 0 to 50. Default 0. - `currency` (string): Your home currency code, like USD or EUR, used only to label amounts. Every amount you send is in this currency unless an item has its own fx_to_home rate. Illustrative example: `POST https://www.supplychain.md/api/v1/match_receipt` with `{"order_lines":[{"sku":"HSG-100","qty":10000,"unit_price":6.8},{"sku":"GSK-100","qty":10000,"unit_price":0.2}],"receipt_lines":[{"sku":"HSG-100","qty_received":10000,"qty_rejected":40},{"sku":"GSK-100","qty_received":10000}],"invoice_lines":[{"sku":"HSG-100","qty":10000,"unit_price":6.8},{"sku":"GSK-100","qty":10000,"unit_price":0.2}],"invoice_charges":[{"label":"Freight","amount":1200}],"allowed_charges":1200,"currency":"USD"}`. Round illustrative numbers, not market data, a price or a quote; send your own. ### inventory_policy: Safety stock, reorder point and order size Sets stock levels from your demand and lead-time numbers. Safety stock = z x sqrt((lead_time_days + review_period_days) x demand_sd^2 + daily_demand^2 x lead_time_sd^2), with z from service_level (a cycle service level). Continuous review: reorder point = daily_demand x lead_time_days + safety stock. Periodic review (review_period_days > 0): order-up-to = daily_demand x (lead time + review period) + safety stock. With unit_cost, order_cost and carrying_cost_rate it adds the economic order quantity, rounded up to moq and order_multiple, the average stock and the annual holding and ordering costs. With on_hand and on_order it says whether an order is due now and how much. Every number comes from the request; it holds no demand, cost or lead time of its own and never places an order. - `daily_demand` (number, min 0, max 1000000000, required): Average demand per day, in units, from the person's records or forecast. - `demand_sd` (number, min 0, max 1000000000): Standard deviation of daily demand, units per day.
